A temporary warming center has opened in Lakeport in the old Juvenile Hall on Whalen Way. Director Yvonne Cox has worked with those in need for almost a quarter of a century and was given the hall to serve as a shelter for the next 90 days. The facility has 35 beds and has accommodations for men, women, and those with disabilities. Besides a place to stay, there will be outreach programs for those who need.
