The USDA has announced that households affected by power outages during the storms in December and last month could be eligible for replacement of SNAP/Cal Fresh benefits. Lake and Mendocino counties are part of the 39 counties automatically made eligible. SNAP/CalFresh recipients in areas hardest hit by the disaster may have part of their January benefits replaced. Those living in other affected areas may fill out an affidavit of need at a local disaster relief office. More information on the program and eligibility can be found at cdss.ca.gov and fns.usda.gov.
