Ukiah Man Admits to Bank Robbery

A Ukiah man facing a jury trial changed his mind Friday and admitted to a January 21st robbery of the Ukiah branch of Chase Bank. The Mendocino County DA’s office reports that 54-year-old Dean Michael Stevens, entered a no contest plea in Mendocino County Superior Court to the robbery. He also admitted a Strike sentencing enhancement alleging a felony robbery conviction in Sonoma County Superior Court in 2015. Stevens’ trial on the charges was scheduled to begin today. As part of the no contest plea agreement, the District Attorney required the defendant to agree to a 10-year state prison term. Formal sentencing is set 9 a.m. Septemer 9th.
