Sheriff Declares Drought Emergency for Lake County

Sheriff Brian Martin has declared a drought emergency in Lake County. He issued the emergency proclamation Thursday night citing the drought this year, and the fact the state is in the second consecutive year of extremely dry conditions due to historically low rainfall totals. Martin’s proclamation will be considered for ratification by the Board of Supervisors during tomorrow morning’s meeting. In April, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a drought emergency for Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
