A proposal to audit the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office budget was presented during this week’s Board of Supervisors meeting. South Coast Organizing for Radical Equality gave the presentation saying they are seeking transparency around how funding is being managed within the department. Sheriff Matt Kendall said he welcomes a fair and independent audit but doesn’t want it to be a witch hunt. The board will put together an ad-hoc committee to address questions about the Sheriff’s Department budget.
