Violent crimes are up in Mendocino County. 2020 statistics released from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office for show there were 14 death ruled homicides, compared to 8 in 2019. Suicides were also up with 32 in 2020 compared to 20 in 2019.The latest report shows other crime stats, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse as down for 2020 from 2019, but Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall attributes the drop to underreporting. Arsons were up with 26 reported in 2020 compared to 19 in 2019.
