Lakeport Police Department is reminding residents to not feed the ducks. Feeding ducks, or any waterfowl, is not permitted in the City’s parklands according to Municipal Code and California state law. Feeding wildlife can lead to severe health consequences for wildlife and people. Feeding ducks can lead to an expanded waterfowl population beyond the carrying capacity of the habitat, and overcrowded habitats also are prime territories for disease outbreaks.
