LUSD Board Member Resigns

A Lakeport Unified School Board member has resigned. After being overruled by the new members two meetings in a row, Lori Holmes has left the board. She notified Lake County Superintendent of Schools Brock Falkenberg yesterday morning about her decision. This week, Holmes was the only board member who voted “no” to ending the superintendent’s contract. The week prior, she objected to a move by the majority of members to hire its own attorney to advise it on its relationship with the superintendent, saying the the board had access to legal help that was already paid for. Holmes, who was first elected to the board in the fall of 2011, said in her resignation letter that she believes critical decisions have been made recklessly that do not serve the best interests of this district.
