A man is in custody in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in Hidden Valley Lake last night. A woman was killed in the shooting at a home in the 18000 block of Spyglass Road. Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin says the investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released later.

More details have been relased about the fiery crash in Willits that killed both drivers. One of the men, Gilberto Delgado, was driving his family to Disneyland. The CHP said a driver of a Ford Bronco crossed over the yellow lines and into the Dodge Ram that Delgado was driving. A good samaritan, who remains unnamed, stopped and pulled the passengers out of that vehicle, and riends of the family say everyone is appreciative of what he did. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body found along a rural area of the Judge Davis Trail, about 2 miles from Highway 20. An initial investigation found no signs of foul play. Identification of the body is pending an autopsy scheduled for this week. Authorities have yet to establish a cause of death.
The Ukiah Planning Commission will hold a special meeting this evening to take public comment on the proposal to build a housing complex for the mentally ill. Willow Terrace would be built by the Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation at 237 E. Gobbi Street. The building plans are for a 2-story complex that would house 26 studios, and 11 one-bedroom units. The meeting to consider granting a permit for the proposed apartment complex starts at 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers at 300 Seminary Avenue.
A fiery crash in Lake County claimed the lives of three men. The crash happened about 2:20 Saturday morning. on Gold Dust Drive at Wilson Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 2010 Chevy Camaro was headed south on Gold Dust Drive at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at the intersection, continued across the road and hit a metal fence in front of a house. The car then hit a tree and burst into flames. CHP says the men likely died on impact. Their identities will be confirmed by dental records.
A second suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of a Mendocino woman . The first suspect is 39-year-old Kelley Coan of Mendocino, who had been living with her son on the property where 57-year-old Jamie Dawn Shipman was found dead in her house. The 2nd suspect, Coan’s 20-year-old son, Alexander, was arrested on Saturday after detectives determined that he was also involved.
An unidentified man is being called a hero for rescuing five people, including two small children, from a burning vehicle Friday morning. Two cars collided on Highway 101 just after midnight, and both cars burst into flames after the impact. A good samaritan stopped and pulled out all of the passengers, who only suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were killed in the crash.
A Clearlake man is facing several charges for stabbing a man with a machete Saturday night, and police say the incident was racially motivated. The victim, a black male, told police 34-year-old Anthony Robert Hammond, had been yelling racial slurs at people located in the parking lot of the Beachfront Apartment complex. He then went into his apartment, got the machete and struck the victim on the shoulder. Hammond is being held in the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail.
Lake County authorities are investigating a fatal boat accident that happened yesterday afternoon. Lake County Central Dispatch recieved a report of a vessel crash with a 57-year-old male with a possible head injury. The boat was parked at Skyklark Motel in Lakeport where first responders examined the victim, who was already deceased. The other man who was with him said the victim had been driving the boat when it hit a tree, causing him to fall hard between the seats. The Lakeport Fire Protection District Chief says the boat has damage from a collision, and the incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
This week the City of Ukiah Planning Commission recommended that the City Council certify the final environmental impact report and rezoning of property for the proposed Costco site. The proposed location for the store is in the airport industrial park.
