Underground Utility Work Delayed in Ukiah

Underground utility work in Ukiah has been delayed.

The Ukiah Electric Utility Director says, the project which will underground the utilities along East Perkins Street and remove all the power poles into Ukiah has been delayed due to the fires earlier this year in Lake County. The Daily Journal reports, The utilities such as phone and cable are doing repairs in Middletown and that crews helped out in Lake County as well, replacing about 60 poles. So far, all of the infrastructure such as the conduits, vaults and pedestals for the transformers have been installed, and the next step is to install the underground network which will be brand new. That project will allow crews to find the cause of outages much faster, and will shorten the duration of outages in the area. There’s no estimated completion date on the project which was to be completed early next year.
