Judge reviews narcotics charge against a Ukiah Surgeon

A Mendocino County Court Judge is reviewing a prescription fraud case against a Ukiah surgeon.
Dr. Brian Cable faces six felony counts of prescription fraud and a seventh charge that he possessed a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, furnish or sell it. Judge Ann Moorman announced after a Monday preliminary hearing — the district attorney’s chance to show enough evidence to bind over the defendant for trial — that she intended to hold Cable to answer the six prescription fraud charges. According to the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office, the defense claimed at the preliminary hearing that Cable’s actions stemmed from his addiction, not from an intent to furnish the drug to others. No further court dates have been set while Moorman makes her decision on the furnishing charge. Once her ruling is made, the complaint against Cable would be adjusted accordingly and he would be arraigned on the charges, if changes are made.
