A Ukiah father, who was originally charged with assault resulting in a coma due to brain injury of a child younger than 8 years old, could now face probation rather than a possible life sentence since the child has recovered. The baby boy was 6 months old when Daniel Camara was charged with child abuse resulting in the child’s hospitalization. The Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office confirms that the child has recovered so they’ve reconsidered the charge and offered a plea deal that would allow the father to spend the next five years on probation instead. Camara plead guilty Wednesday to the lesser charge, and will be back in court Jan. 28 for sentencing.
