The Lake Resource center opened an emergency warming center for the homeless last night after a vote by the Lake County Board of Supervisors to provide the center with the necessary resources. The center was open for homeless people needed shelter from the freezing temperatures. The temporary shelter will open every night starting at 7 p.m. as long as night temperatures remain below 45 degrees. The Lake Family Resource Center Office in Clearlake located at 15312 Lakeshore Dr.
The Extreme Weather Shelter is open to homeless individuals for check-in any time of the day until 8 p.m. in Fort Bragg. Those there in
need of overnight shelter can check in at the Hospitality House. There will be a van doing outreach on the streets of Fort Bragg and Mendocino too. The Extreme Weather Shelter was created by Love in Action and is delivered by Hospitality House in partnership with local faith communities. They accept donations of food, clothing, toiletries or towels at Hospitality House in Fort Bragg.
