Its been reported that on Sunday, a rare beaked whale was found dead on the shore of Jug Handle State Natural Reserve near F ort Bragg, near the Marine Mammal Center. The dead whale, known for its ability to dive deeper than any marine animal is rarely sighted, and gives local researchers an opportunity to study the animal, shedding light on our changing oceans and the environments such animals live in. Anyone who finds a stranded or dead animal washed ashore is asked to contact Noyo’s Stranding Center or the Marine Mammal Center.
