Lakeport’s fire chief has announced he’ll retire. After just over a year on the job, Chief Jeffrey Thomas submitted his resignation, effective this past Monday, to the Lakeport Fire Protection District Board following its meeting last week. Thomas said his decision is based on personal reasons and has no immediate plans. At a special meeting on Monday, the fire board named retired Ukiah Valley Fire Chief Dan Grebil as interim chief.
