Former UPD Sergeant Criminally Charged

The Ukiah police sergeant charged with burglary and sexual battery has been fired from the department. In a statement posted online, Ukiah Police Chief Justin Wyatt condemned the actions of Kevin Murray that occurred in late November. Wyatt said the investigation, which began immediately, concluded this month with the Mendocino County District Attorney charging Murray with five criminal counts. Murray is accused of entering a woman’s motel room at least twice, then then committing sexual battery while intimidating or threatening her. He was also in possession of methamphetamine. Yesterday, Murray was booked into Mendocino County Jail.
