Power Shutfoffs Possible for Lake and Mendocino Counties

Power may be shut off in Lake and Mendocino Counties this week based on weather conditions calling for gusty winds and low humidity. Lake County will be under a Fire Weather Watch from late Tuesday night through Thursday afternoon. While Mendocino County’s Fire Weather Watch is for Wednesday morning through Thursday morning.

PG&E has listed both counties as under a Public Safety Power Shutoff Watch for Wednesday and Thursday. A PSPS Watch is typically only issued within 72 hours before the anticipated start of an event. Both counties are listed as Elevated for Friday, which means a period of gusty winds, dry conditions, and heightened risk is being monitored for an increased potential of a PSPS event.

According to Lake County Sheriff, Brian Martin, a power shutoff could affect Lake County as early as 6 a.m. Wednesday.
