Planning Agreement Created to Relicense the Potter Valley Project

A planning agreement has been created by several area entities to see how they may relicense the Potter Valley Project now that Pacific Gas and Electric has decided it no longer wants to operate the facility. The planning agreement is with California Trout, Mendocino County Inland Water & Power Commission and Sonoma Water. State Representative Jared Huffman called the agreement “a framework to develop a 21st-Century project that respects the needs of the diverse stakeholders who live in northwestern California.” Huffman says the planning agreement will provide a structure to fund and develop a collaborative two-basin proposal that will secure the region’s water supply and protect endangered salmon species in the Eel River and upper Russian River.
