State to Investigate DMV Voter Registration Errors

The California Secretary of State’s office is investigating whether the outcome of any close elections would be changed due to motor-voter registration errors.  The DMV reported that some voter registration forms weren’t properly filed. That resulted in nearly 600 people not being registered to vote in the November election. The investigation is part of settlement in a federal lawsuit brought by advocacy groups including the League of Women Voters of California and the American Civil Liberties Union.
