DA Completes Review of Officers-Involved Fatal Shooting

The Mendocino County District Attorney has completed his full review of the officers-involved fatal shooting of 48-year-old Dawn Elika Center, formerly of Redwood Valley. Back in February, Center. took a Chevrolet Camaro from an Auto Plaza in Ukiah. After she crashed the Camero, Center reportedly exited the vehicle holding a handgun and was confrontational. Three officers fired their weapons. The report states that according to all accounts of the shooting, the officers involved acted reasonable considring the degree to which the situation was tense, uncertain and evolving, especially after the suspect had led a dangerous, high-speed chase, fired her handgun twice, and refused commands to drop the firearm and surrender. The DA says this matter is now closed and there will be no further investigation.
