US 101 is still closed just north of Leggett, and Caltrans 1 says due to continuing slide activity, they can’t yet put a date on reopening. Their contractor began work yesterday, removing 82 dump truck loads of material and removing a small portion of the rock fall fence, but had to shut down early because the slide became too active to continue safely. They intend to resume today working 12-hour days, 7 days per week, until the highway is reopened. Motorists are advised to not use Bell Springs Road as a detour – there have been several accidents reported, including a couple just last night.
