Judge Denies CALTRANS Motion to Dismiss in Lawsuit

A federal judge has ruled that that CalTrans, along with the Federal Highway Administration, will remain defendents in a lawsuit filed by the Coyote Valley and Round Valley Bands of Pomo Indians. The lawsuit alleges that Caltrans and FHWA failed to properly identify and protect their “ancestral, sacred, cultural, and archeological sites and resources” and destroyed certain sites during the construction of the Willits Bypass Project. The ruling denied Caltrans motion to dismiss.
