Traffic Notifications Lakeport Ukiah

A couple of traffic notifications. Pool Street in Lakeport will be closed again today.

Also Caltrans will begin emergency repairs of the U.S. Highway 101 Perkins Street overcrossing in Ukiah on Thursday, September 29, at 4 p.m. The overpass was damaged on September 14th when it was struck by an over-height load on a truck. Southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 101 will be restricted to one lane, and motorists should anticipate minor traffic slowdowns. The southbound onramp from Perkins to 101 will also be closed, and motorists will be directed to use the southbound Gobbi Street onramp. [Go-be]

Redwood Valley Home Damaged in Fire

A Redwood Valley home was damaged by fire yesterday. The fire at the home near Eagle Peak Middle School began in the rear of the structure, and the cause is still under investigation. No one was home when the fire broke out.

SWAT Called in to Fort Bragg

A suspect involved in the possible hostage situation in Fort Bragg was taken into custody last night. The incident happend in the Simpson Lane & Mitchell Creek Road area and the MSCO SWAT team was on the scene. More details are expected to be released from the sheriff’s office in the coming days.

Man Who Entered Clayton Fire Disaster Area Sentenced

A man who entered the closed disaster area of the Clayton Fire will serve some time in jail.
Bradley Michael Thorstenson was on active felony probation for a burglary charge from 2014 when he was arrested recently. Thorstenson’s been ordered to serve 10 days in jail with no credit for time served.

Progress Made on SawMill Fire

As of last night, the SawMill Fire, burning the the Geysers east of Cloverdale was at 1500 acres and 45-percent contained. All mandatory evacuation orders and road closures were lifted at 6:00 yesterday evening. Firefighters will continue to work on improving the fire line today.

MCSO Advises of EAS Test Tomorrow

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s office is advising residents that the Emergency Alert System will be tested tomorrow at 11:20AM. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a mandatory nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System to verify the delivery and broadcast, and assess the readiness for distribution, of a national level test message. The EAS test is made available to radio, television, cable, and direct broadcast satellite systems and is scheduled to last approximately one minute.

Road Closure Lakeport

A closure of Pool Street in Lakeport has beenrescheduled for today. According to the Lakeport Public Works Department, Pool Street between Ninth Street and Central Park will be closed through 4 p.m. for work in the area. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes to avoid the area, and be aware of crews.

Latest on Sawmill Fire

The last update on the wildland fire east of Cloverdale in Sonoma County put the fire at 1,500 acres and 10-percent contained. The #SawmillFire is burning near The Geysers. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire are reporting mandatory evacuations in The Geysers area of Sonoma County, with an evacuation center set up in Healdsburg. There are no reports of the wildland fire entering Lake County.

Board of Supervisors Against Measure AF

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors are against Measure AF. They unanimously voted to take a stance agains the ballot initiative which they say will greatly expand marijuana cultivation.

Pay Raise for Clearlake City Manager

The Clearlake City Council has approved a 5-percent pay raise for City Manager Greg Folsom. The unanimous decision boosts Folsom’s monthly salary from $9,167 to $9,625.35.
