Dollar General for Middletown Rejected

The Lake County Planning Commission is saying no to a proposed Dollar General Store in Middletown.

Cross Development was seeking a permit application to build a 9,100-square-foot store on Highway 29. Commission members cited concerns about the impact the store would have on existing businesses, and said the store wasn’t a fit with county planning guidelines. They also questioned the economic report from Cross Development which hadn’t been updated since the Valley fire. The Planning Commission recently rejected a proposal for a Dollar General Store in Kelseyille. Two stores were built and opened last year in Clearlake Oaks and Nice.
