Burning Permits and Lake County Burn Ban

As of this Sunday, Permits are required for outdoor burning on State Responsibility Lands. Cal Fire’s requiring the permits for any vegetation fuel in Lake and Mendocino counties. Failure to maintain control of an open fire will result in the permit being voided and the permit holder could be potentially held responsible for fire suppression cost, civil damages and fines. You can pick up the permits at the Howard Forest Headquarters Monday through Friday, from 8 to 5.

In addition, Lake County’s annual burn ban begins this year on May 1st. The burn ban is implemented to address extreme fire danger and poor air quality. The burn restriction applies to all areas in Lake County. All burn permits expire this Saturday.
