New courthouse coming to Ukiah

Escrow is now completed for a new courthouse in Ukiah. The property near the Ukiah Railroad Depot will become the new home of the Mendocino County courthouse. The Daily Journal reports, The Judicial Council of California is buying just more than four acres from the North Coast Railroad Authority near East Perkins Street and the railroad tracks with the plan of building a new secure building that will include eight courtrooms, space for staff and court services, jury deliberation rooms, and separate holding rooms and elevators for in-custody defendants. The next step is for the Court and the JCC to finalize the working plans and drawings. That step has been funded by the state. Construction on the $95 million dollar project is set to be finished in 2020.
