Parole Denied for Former Redwood Valley Man Convicted of Murder

Parole for a former Redwood Valley man convicted in a 1990’s killing has been denied…This week the state prison parole board denied the parole application of 62-year-old Jerome Hunter Smith, who murdered his brother-in-law with a shotgun on May 10, 1994. Smith was convicted of second-degree murder in November 1994 and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. District Attorney David Eyster says Mendocino County Deputy District Attorney Caitlin Keane attended Smith’s parole hearing to argue against his release.
