Ukiah fire hydrant repaired

City of Ukiah crews worked yesterday at the corner of Peach Street and South Orchard Avenue. Crews poured concrete around new pipe where a hydrant failed last Friday sending thousands of gallons of water into the streets. The city’s Water and Sewer Maintenance Division says about 15,000 gallons of water leaked onto the streets. None of the leaked water is going to be charged to residents. There was a second water main break Monday night at Peach Street on Plum Drive. Crews say, it was a “much-easier” fix than the one on Friday. They estimated only about 500 gallons of water escaped.
