Car crash in Lake County causes wildland fire

A small wildland fire was caused by a car crash yesterday afternoon in Lake County. It happened around 4:30 on Highway 20 and Paradise Valley east of Lucerne. The CHP says, the vehicle crashed into an embankment and caught fire. The driver suffered minor injuries. Lake County News reports, Northshore Fire units arrived at the scene to find the car was fully involved and had spread to wildland. Authorities quickly closed down Highway 20 while Northshore Fire and Cal Fire worked to contain the blaze. An aggressive attack was made by Ground and air resources – including air attack, tankers and a helicopter which quickly made good progress. Just after 6 pm the fire was reported to be fully contained, with a few hours of mop up. Size estimates from the scene put the fire at two acres.
