Two men arrested after robbing elderly man at Austin Park

Two men are behind bars in Lake County after police say they robbed an elderly man in a city park yesterday. A 76-year-old Clearlake resident called police to report that he had just been robbed of his wallet by two black male adults at Austin Park on Lakeshore Drive. The man said one of the suspects held him while the second suspect removed his wallet. The two then took off on foot. Police were able to find the two men in the area by the description they were given by the victim. Darius Louis of Contra Costa County and Clifford Joseph McDonald of Clearlake, both 18, confessed to the robbery. The two men told police that the victim was chosen as they could see his wallet in his pants pocket and believed it to be full of cash. Police said the two worked together to rob the elderly victim of his money as Louis needed money to get back to Contra Costa County. Louis is a convicted felon on parole who also had a felony arrest warrant for a prior parole violation. Both Louis and McDonald later were booked into the Lake County Jail on felony charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and elder abuse.
