Mendocino County Bus Fares to Increase

Bus fares will increase countywide on July 27. The Mendocino Transit Authority board of directors voted to raise cash fares by 20 percent, meaning that a one-zone fare would increase from $1.25 to $1.50. The 75-cent cost to travel into a second zone will stay the same. The cost for 16-ride punch passes and most monthly passes will increase by 13 percent, and the youth summer passes will increase next year from $40 to $45. The increase will help close a $200,000 budget gap and meet state and local requirements that fares cover a certain percentage of MTA’s operating costs in order to qualify for other funding.
