Charge Replaced for Ukiah Doctor

A felony charge of furnishing or selling hydrocodone was dropped to a simple possession charge for a Ukiah surgeon. Dr. Brian Cable was in court yesterday to be arraigned on the amended complaint, which includes six charges of felony prescription fraud, and, a seventh charge of possessing the controlled substance. Cable’s attorney says the charge was replaced because there wasn’t enough evidence to prove that his client gave or sold the prescription drug to anyone illegally. After a tip by Ukiah Valley Medical Center personnel, Ukiah Police Department detectives arrested Cable last July after searching his home and office. Cable and two co-defendants are due back in court late next month for a pretrial conference.
